Amazon Studios has put in development an untitled drama project from The Boondocks creator Aaron McGruder and feature producer Will Packer (Straight Outta Compton). The storyline is being kept under wraps but is said to revolve around an alternate universe in the vein of The Man in the High Castle. CBS has given a script commitment plus penalty to Incognito, an action-driven legal procedural from writer Rashad Raisani and producers Will Packer and Adam Rifkin. Universal TV.  Written by Raisani, Incognito is based on the Swedish series Inkognito. It centers on a crusading U.S. Attorney who leads a skilled team of misfits into life and death situations to find critical evidence the prosecution needs to even the playing field with the corrupt and the mighty.

NBC has nabbed Big of Me, a half-hour comedy from Awkward creator Lauren Iungerich and producers Will Packer and Eva Longoria. The project hails from Universal TV where Packer’s Will Packer Prods. and Longoria’s UnveliEVAble Entertainment have deals. Created and written by Iungerich, Big of Me centers on two women from different walks of life who start an unlikely friendship after their mutual husband dies.  Iungerich and Packer executive produce alongside UnbeliEVAble Entertainment’s Longoria and Ben Spector. Will Packer Prods.’ head of TV Korin D. Huggins co-executive produces.

Producer Will Packer is seemingly everywhere at once. He shepherded “Straight Outta Compton” to box office glory this past summer. He fielded two comedies for the 2015-16 season: NBC’s “Truth Be Told” and ABC’s upcoming “Uncle Buck.” He’s winding down the year at his home base in Atlanta, finishing work on “Ride Along 2,” starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube, for a January release. And he’s preparing for the challenge of revisiting “Roots” as a miniseries for A&E, History and Lifetime next year.

Producer Will Packer (Truth Be Told, Uncle Buck) has teamed with actor-rapper-producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson (Power) for My Friend 50, a single-camera series project, which has landed at Fox with the duo executive producing and 50 Cent set to recur, making occasional appearances as a version of himself. Written on spec by Ava Tramer (TBS’ Angie Tribeca), My Friend 50, which has a script order, follows Amanda Kramer, an unstable twentysomething who believes that joining 50 Cent’s entourage is the answer to all her problems. Her unlikely journey with 50 Cent’s crew takes the form of a bizarre documentary commissioned by the most unreliable narrator in history: Amanda.
